THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS

The Lesotho Tourism Development Corporation (LTDC) is a body corporate established under the Tourism Act No. 4 of 2002. The governing body of the Corporation is a Board of Directors. Members of the Board are appointed by the Minister responsible for Tourism, Environment and Culture (MTEC) by notice published in the Government Gazette. The Board is composed of nine members, with three of them being ex officio members. The Board consists of the following:

•  The Principal Secretary (PS) - MTEC

•  The Chief Executive (CE) – LTDC

•  A member nominated by the Lesotho Council of Tourism (LCT)

•  A member nominated by the Lesotho Hotels and Hospitality Association (LHHA)

•  Four (4) other members appointed on the basis of their qualifications or experience in any of the following:

•  Tourism;
•  Finance;
•  Environment;
•  Law;
•  Culture; or
•  Physical Planning

•  The Corporate Secretary (CS) - LTDC

The tenure of office for members of the Board other than ex officio members is three years. The LTDC had its first members of the Board appointed under Legal Notice No.195 of 2002, while the serving members of the Board were appointed under Legal Notice No. 184 of 2006. Members of the Board are as follows:

Mrs. Mamoruti Malie - PS, MTEC Chairperson

Vacant - CE, LTDC Executive Director

Ms. Nthabiseng Monoko - CS, LTDC Secretary to the Board

Ms. Potlako Nts'ekhe - LCT Non-Executive Director

Mrs. Jennifer Thorn - LHHA Non-Executive Director

Mr. Stephen Phakisi - Non-Executive Director

Mr. Teboho Kobeli - Non-Executive Director

Mrs. M. M. Bosiu - Non-Executive Director

 

The LTDC Board of Directors has established Board Committees through which it carries out its functions as stipulated under the Tourism Act. Tenure of office for these Committees is one year and may be renewed. Given the size of the Corporation, three Committees have been established, namely:

•  The Appointments and Remuneration Committee
•  The Operations Committee
•  The Audit Committee

Membership to these Committees is currently based on members of the Board, though it is open to representatives from different organizations such as the LCT, Lesotho Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Lesotho Highlands Development Authority, Lesotho National Development Corporation, and representatives nominated by the Principal Secretary of Ministry of Sports and Gender or of the Ministry of Home Affairs and Public Safety (Immigration and Lesotho Mounted Police Service).
