TOURISM PROMOTION STRATEGIES OF THE CORPORATION:

•  Promotion of public/private sector partnership in the industry.

•  Policy advocacy for advice on issues that will stimulate an enabling environment for the development of the tourism sector.

•  Grass root or community involvement as source of tourism growth in the country. (A direct response to the Government Policy of poverty reduction strategy.) Bottoms-up implementation initiatives.

•  Encouragement and promotion of sustainable usage of the environment.

•  Strategic alliances formation with all stakeholders in the tourism industry in Lesotho .

•  Empowerment and capacity building within the rural communities by promoting income generating tourism activities, and finally;

•  Establishment of complementarity with neighbouring South Africa , and regional counterparts by promoting Lesotho as an “add-on destination”.

LTDC IMPLEMENTATION STRATEGY

Product Development

- Develop an economically and environmentally sustainable sector that maximises the contribution to overall national and social objectives.

- Creating tourism related employment opportunities particularly as a tool for development of rural areas.

- Stimulation and facilitation of new in-bound infrastructural investments in the tourism sector.

- Encourage both domestic and foreign investment in tourism related facilities by creating an environment conducive to such investment.

Policy Advocacy

Advocate for streamlining of institutional arrangements and regulations with clear lines of authority and responsibility e.g. licensing, standardization, accreditation and administration of appropriate sector specific incentive regime.

Product Policy

Promote and market Lesotho based on Lesotho 's comparative and competitive advantages viz; climate, scenery and quality of life.

Investment dispersal rather that concentration i.e. a number of small projects which are designed to complement each other and are easy to manage.
